Veterans Evergreen Memorial is a beautiful country road known as the scenic route to Duluth. Bookmarked by Jay Cooke and Banning state parks, the 50-mile route is dedicated to World War I and II soldiers from the surrounding Carlton, Pine, and St. Louis counties and is an excellent spot to view glorious fall colors in the St. Louis River Valley.

QUICK TRIPS
At Banning State Park, the adventurous can kayak down Hell’s Gate Rapids on the Kettle River as onlookers snap photos. Trout fishermen will want to try their luck at the Nemadji River and other trout streams. A scenic overlook near Wrenshall offers a view of the St. Louis River Valley. Honor war veterans before the memorial plaques on the Northern Overlook Wall, then spread a blanket for a relaxing picnic in Jay Cooke State Park.
